Any topic (writer’s choice)

Part 1: Based on your reading this week, perform a SWOT analysis of the company you work for, or pick any company you wish.

Be certain to properly separate S & W as internal factors (factors directly reflective of the company and which the company has direct control over) and O & T as external factors (factors reflective of our environment which we may not have direct control over but none the less need to recognize and plan for).

Part 2: In an essay of at least 2 pages (double spaced, size 11 or 12 font, with your name and title of essay in the header of the document), discuss how the findings influence the company you’ve chosen. Include your recommendations for how the company should use its strengths and opportunities to offset its weaknesses and threats.

Be sure to use MLA format.  An essay template is attached for your reference.

Ecology

Questions to be answered in the essay:  You can number each response and answer each question separately or you can answer them all in one continuous essay.  Please answer in complete sentences and paragraph format.  These answers should be thoughtful and thorough.
1)  How does your individual footprint compare with the average footprint of a U.S. citizen? Are you surprised by your score? Why or why not?
2)  The tool breaks your footprint down into categories; does the similarity between your lifestyle and that of the average American differ across categories?
3)  What impacts might result if everyone in the world enjoyed the same lifestyle that you do? How would it impact you personally if this were the case?
4)  Does reducing the size of our footprint necessarily mean reducing our quality of life? Why or why not? Are there ways of enhancing quality of life while lowering impact? (Some examples might include driving a higher mileage car, generating less waste, saving money by using more efficient appliances.)
5)  Were any footprint quiz questions difficult to answer or not directly relevant? What is your opinion of the ecological footprint as a heuristic tool for raising awareness and inspiring change?
