“When you incorporate your outside sources, if you do, you should cite them in the text and at the end in proper MLA citation style. Additionally, since we are moving toward more formal writing, you should also begin to eliminate some of the informal elements in your work. In addition to not using first person, you should also get away from the use of contractions, colloquialisms and other kinds of informal expression.”

“Retirement Planning for 20-Somethings: Don’t Fall
Into the ‘Playing It Safe’ Trap”
Something that this article has made clear to me is that target-dated funds should continue to rise in popularity. This is because they offer the “easiest” way to be on a better track to a more diversified portfolio. Not everyone has the knowledge or willpower to allocate their own portfolio. This is an accessible way that offers a potentially higher return than the 16% of workers in their 20s (in 2006) that had no money in stocks could realize. Your risk tolerance should be higher when you are young because you have more time to wait out the lows of the economy as well as more time to earn money. Investing completely in low-yield etfs and “stable-value” funds can result in much more conservative gains that will at best beat inflation.

There is a lot of discussion on the millennial generation and the general trends observed. They arrive into the workforce with significantly more debt than any generation prior and tend to more or less nitpick the job they ultimately undertake. Additionally, as the article states, there is much speculation that social security may not be around when the millennial generate arrives at retirement age so the need the for retirement savings is even more important. So while the challenges for retirement planning appear to be greater for this generation than past, there are several positive changes that one could argue make it easier to plan. First, the amount of time available is the most important asset we currently have. The article discusses the various funds available that, for the most part, do the investment work throughout the funds life for you. While this generation is entering the workforce with more debt, they’re also entering during a time when trading and investing has never been cheaper. Prior generations didn’t have access to the wealth of resources we have available and searching for particular funds that address one’s needs is now easier than ever. Buying stocks and the development of ETF’s have made investing for just about anybody literally at the tips of ones fingertips. Despite the challenges faced, ‘play it safe’ is really the most detrimental them you could do to your retirement.
ENG 102 Module 1 Case
Note: Module 1 SLP should be completed before the Module 1 Case.
After viewing An Education in Equality, Learning Begins at Home, A Military Education, and an Education, write an organized and well-supported essay in which you make three observations about education and what impacts (and enhances) student learning. Consider impacts and influences such as parenting, home life, society, race, technology, ethnicity, socioeconomics, etc.
A well-organized essay has a beginning, middle, and an end. The beginning, or introduction, should include an opening sentence to grab your readers attention. Follow the opening sentence with a brief background on the topic or situation. In this case, it might be the state of education today. The last sentence of the introduction is the thesis statement. The thesis states the main point of the essay, which in this case, would be what impacts/influences student learning.
A well-supported essay includes supporting points, details, and examples. For this essay, you must decide the best way to organize the body of the paper. Will you have a paragraph for each impact or enhancement? Will you divide the body of your paper into three paragraphs, one for each impact? In any case, each body paragraph must support (explain) your reasoning (rationale) using specific details. Each body paragraph must begin with a topic sentence that states the main point of the paragraph.
The conclusion typically summarizes the main points of the essay and/or closes with a lasting impression that connects the reader to their world. You may wish to offer suggestions to reader about what makes for exceptional student learning.
Be sure to proofread your essay and edit for proper grammar, punctuation, diction (word choice), and spelling, as errors in sentence skills will lower a final grade. A grade will be determined based on the Module 1 Case expectations and the Trident University General Education rubric for English found in the course syllabus.
Papers must be double-spaced in Times or Times New Roman font (12 cpi) with standard one-inch margins. A grade will be determined based on the Module 1 Case expectations and the Trident University General Education rubric for English.
The first person “I” is not used in a formal essay.
No secondary sources are to be used in the process of writing this first paper; it is to be entirely written based on one’s point of view and supported with body points and details.
Assignment Expectations
Write an essay (no fewer than four pages in length) that states an original thesis statement on what impacts/influences student learning.
Demonstrate the ability to write clearly and cohesively when expressing ones ideas and/or intended purpose.
Demonstrate the ability to clearly state and support a thesis in an organized and cohesive essay.
discussion response
You must reply to at least two colleagues in a manner that extends the discussion. A simple “I agree/disagree” will not be accepted.

The levelized cost of energy, or levelized cost of electricity, is a measure of the average net present cost of electricity generation for a generating plant over its lifetime. The LCOE is used to compare different methods of electricity generation on a consistent basis. The LCOE “represents the average revenue per unit of electricity generated that would be required to recover the costs of building and operating a generating plant during an assumed financial life and duty cycle.” Key inputs to calculating LCOE include capital costs, fuel costs, fixed and variable operations and maintenance (O&M) costs, financing costs, and an assumed utilization rate for each plant type. One major incentive for LCOE is federal or state tax credits. Federal tax credits for certain renewable generation facilities can substantially reduce the realized cost of these facilities. Based on the following and where applicable, the LCOE tables show the cost both with and without tax credits that EIA assumed would be available in the year in which the plant enters service. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, regarding the “Production Tax Credit (PTC): New wind, geothermal, and closed-loop biomass plants receive $24 per megawatt-hour (MWh) of generation; other PTC-eligible technologies receive $12/MWh. The PTC values are adjusted for inflation and applied during the plants first 10 years of service. Plants that were under construction before the end of 2016 received the full PTC. After 2016, wind continues to be eligible for the PTC but at a $/MWh rate that declines by 20% in 2017, 40% in 2018, 60% in 2019, and expires completely in 2020. Based on documentation released by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), EIA assumes that wind plants have four years after beginning construction to come online and claim the PTC. As a result, wind plants entering service in 2021 will receive $19.20/MWh, and those plants entering service in 2023 will receive $9.60/MWh.” These incentives are important as we work through this transition towards more renewable energy sources. The whole point of them is to make individuals and companies more inclined to produce more energy this way and make the transition period much smoother.

Electricity is a unique market due to its constantly fluctuating supply and demand. The method most commonly used to calculate the cost of electricity is called the levelized cost. This is the present value of the total cost of building and operating a power plant over its economic life. One of the most important costs for this calculation is the total lifetime plant costs.
One of the most important barriers to renewable energy is the cost, more specifically the capital costs. Capital costs are the expenses that are paid upfront for building and installing solar or wind farms. This is where the bulk of the cost comes from. These higher costs can make banks perceive renewable sources as being too risky, resulting in higher interest rates that can make investors think again. This is why looking at the levelized cost is so important. When we consider the levelized cost, it can actually make solar appear less expensive over time.
One incentive to install a renewable energy system is that there are tax credits available. Currently, a homeowner can deduct 26% of the cost of the system from their taxes. This tax break, along with the many others available in many of the states are a great incentive to encourage people to consider installing a new system. By providing more tax incentives, it will allow the every day people to see alternative sources as being more affordable. I also believe it’s important for people to consider the levelized cost because while renewable sources may seem more expensive initially, this shows that they actually are much less expensive over time.

The assignment asks you to repeat that which you had done for Preparatory Formal Analysis Written Exercise #2 with one difference, the choice of another representational painting is completely yours to make.
2. Identification of the Art Object (Answer questions A – F as a list):
Identify the art object (the painting) of your choice by providing the following information
A. Title of the Work, if known:
B. Artist or School, if known:
C.Year Completed, if known:
D.Medium Used, if known:
E.Where Made or Found, if known:
F.Current Location, if known:
3. Objective Description of the Art Object’s Subject Matter (its outer appearance; a description in detail.)
G. Provide an objective description only of the selected art object in the space below. Do not attempt to explain what is going on, to interpret or evaluate the work at this point. Just list the things viewed and their spatial relationship to others in one or more well-considered paragraph*as appropriate to the subject and needed content.
4. Examination of the Art Object’s Medium/Technique/Process Used
H.Identify and medium:
I. Describe the step by step process for making a work of art in that medium. What are the basic tools and steps the artist would generally use to create the work from start to finish in one or more well-considered paragraph*:
The textbook may have sufficient information for this aspect to be satisfactorily completed, however, it may be necessary for you to do some research on your own beyond the scope of the textbook alone in order to satisfactorily complete this part of the assignment.
REMEMBER TO KEEP A RECORD OF YOUR RESOURCES FOR THIS AND ALL OF THE REST OF THE FORMAL ANALYSIS EXERCISES(author’s name, title of book or publication, year published and publisher and location of publication company) AS YOU RESEARCH INFORMATION. YOU ARE EXPECTED TO CREDIT RESOURCES IN YOUR FINAL PAPER. KEEPING GOOD RECORDS OF RESOURCES INCLUDING PAGE NUMBERS IF FROM A TEXT AND PARAGRAPH NUMBERS IF FROM A WEB RESOURCE WILL HELP YOU WHEN YOU WRITE YOUR FINAL PAPER. We will be using MLA 8 format.
5. Examination of the Art Object’s Composition (Its Form Organization):
J. Indicate which of the Art Elements found in the Art Object’s composition from the list found below (Clue: rarely, if at all, is any not to be found and used to some degree or other SO BE THOROUGH ON ASSESSING THE ELEMENTS!) All elements must be addressed, and you must support your argument if you believe an element is missing! Check off those present:
_____1. Line
_____2. Shape
_____3. Space
_____4. Light and Color
_____5. Texture
_____6. Pattern
_____7. Time and Motion
K. For EACH element locate and describe a specific incidence or use of each element as found/used in the Art Object’s composition in one or more well-considered paragraph*as appropriate to the subject and needed content. (HINT: USE TERMS APPROPRIATE TO EACH OF THE ELEMENTS! See the sample!)
An Example :
1. Line: A black outline is used by the artist to separate the colors of the face. There are contour lines around the edge of his face. In the background there is a horizontal line separating the sky from the earth. Also, there is an implied line (line of sight) coming from his eyes looking right at the viewer. There are curvy and diagonal lines in the branches of the trees.
*REMINDER: Please note, in this course, a well-considered paragraph minimally has a topic sentence with four (4) or more sentences that are both logical in content and correct in writing mechanics and style.
L.Indicate which of the Art Principles are to be found or used in the Art Object’s composition from the list found below (Clue: rarely, if at all, is any not to be found and used to some degree or other SO BE THOROUGH ON ASSESSING PRINCIPLES!) All principles must be addressed, and you must support your argument if you believe a principle is missing! Check off those present :
_____1. Balance
_____2. Emphasis and Focal Point
_____3. Scale and Proportion
_____4. Repetition and Rhythm
_____5. Unity and Variety
M. Locate and describe a specific incidence or use of EACH Art Principle as found/used in the Art Object’s composition in one or more well-considered paragraph*as appropriate to the subject and needed content. (HINT: USE TERMS APPROPRIATE TO EACH OF THE ART PRINCIPLES! See the sample!)
An Example:
1.Balance: When I drop a vertical line down the center of my selected painting, the visual weight of the work is concentrated on one side. Because the left side of the painting is populated and the right side has more empty (negative) space it is asymmetrical. There is much more happening on the left side than the right. This sense of asymmetry is furthered through the intense colors on the left side as opposed to the muted colors on the right side.
The artist is Leonardo Da Vinci

Now that you have completed all activities for this unit, your task is to write an email responding to a workplace situation and applying the skills from this unit. The scenario you are assigned may prompt you to write a Routine, Negative, or Persuasive message, but you have to decide which is most appropriate for the situation.
Review your scenario and write the appropriate email response in a Word document.
include To, From, and Subject line at the top of your document
ensure proper navigation of your email (no one paragraph messages)
Below your email message, write a short paragraph explaining your approach and how you incorporated the concepts for the appropriate chapter.
Prompt 6: Bearkat Marketing
You are a paid intern at Bearkat Marketing, where you have worked for two years designing promotional materials for local events. You often end up working after hours on weekends to ensure your projects are delivered to clients promptly. Because you are reliable and trustworthy, your supervisor, Cindy Love, has no problem with you staying after 5:00pm and just asks that you set the security alarm and ensure the office suit door closes behind you. Because Ms. Love locks that door with a key when she leaves for the day, this means you are essentially locked in until you leave and are unable to access other parts of the building (including the vending machines and copy room). A new intern, Josh, was hired two weeks ago to assist the Executive Assistant with managing client requests, including drafting contracts and filing budgets. You just learned from a coworker that he was given a key, enabling him to work after hours and to come and go from the office suite. Compose a message to your supervisor, Cindy Love, asking about the potential for you to have a key to the office suit. You need to demonstrate why you think you need a key, while managing any emotion or confusion involved in this situation.
What tone and orientation should you use in this message?
Should you use I-voice, You-voice, and/or We-voice?
What concerns might your supervisor have? How can you address them?
What details should you include to support your message?
How can you demonstrate respect and courtesy for your supervisor?
How can you ensure that you maintain a positive relationship with your supervisor even if you dont get what you want?
How should you organize your message?
