How prepared do you think your community is for a disaster? This discussion focuses on preparedness, and connects the concepts of what it means to be prepared. You will practice this directly in the discussion and critique preparedness of your peers.
What are some factors that you would consider in answering this question?
Would you say your town or city is more or less prepared than surrounding communities? Provide evidence for your analysis.
If possible, identify a hazard in your community and devise a risk communication strategy for the public. What should the community know about the hazard, what should they do to prepare themselves, and how would you disseminate this information?

Search the library and the Internet and research a problem-solving court (i.e. drug court, veterans court, teen court, re-entry court or homeless court).

-Generally speaking, what are some of the criminological theories that serve as a foundation for these specialty courts? Explain.

Review the FindLaw database and identify a case concerning the 4th Amendment. It may also be helpful to research the Strayer Online Library for this assignment.
Complete a four to five (4-5) page legal memorandum in which you:
Include a brief summary of the case.
Explain the courts decision, including whether there has been a violation of the plaintiffs 4th Amendment right against unlawful search and seizure by the government.
Summarize the courts opinion.
Summarize any dissenting opinion.
Use at least two (2) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Unit 1: Individual Paper Description

Introduction

Each student will identify an ethical dilemma facing a business in their immediate area and write a research paper.  If you cant find a topic from the metro area, it can be in the state you live in, or Country if you live outside the United States. An example if you live in Tanzania might be Mining tanzanite environmental implications. An example thats NOT business related (and not appropriate topic): Is ghosting someone while online dating ethical?.

Deliverables

Unit 3 (30 points) – In Unit 3 an outline of your paper is due that should include the topic and business, proximity to where you live, legal issue(s) identified, and sources you will be using.

Unit 6 (150 points) – Paper should be 15-20 pp in length, double spaced and submitted in one Word document with clear titles, paragraph structure and proper grammar. Gather information from multiple sources and provide a brief background or summary of the facts. Always cite any paraphrasing and quotes from your textbook, lecture, or other sources. Apply the concepts weve studied through Unit 6 and the briefing skills youve been practicing to identify the ethical issues presented and discuss. Discuss both sides of the issue before reaching a conclusion, and justify your conclusion and how you arrived at that opinion.
