Requirements

Continuing with the public policy you selected in the Week 3 assignment, Historical Perspective, you will now describe and expand upon the influence, motives, and impacts of your chosen policy and its parameters. Write a 45 page paper in which you:

Write a one-page summary of the policy, including the purpose, the context of the problem, and any recommendations or suggestions from the policy to address the problem. (Use your summary skills to keep this to one page.)
Identify all the stakeholders, official and unofficial, along with any interest groups involved with your policy.
Describe the role and function of each of the stakeholders you identified.
Of the list of stakeholders you identified, pick two and describe the political influence of each stakeholder, explaining motives, conflicts, interrelationships, and impacts on the policy.
Include at least four peer-reviewed references from material outside the textbook. Note: Appropriate peer-reviewed references include scholarly articles and governmental websites. Wikipedia, other wikis do not qualify as peer-reviewed. Use Basic Search: Strayer University Online Library to identify references.

In this paper, you will explore how changes in legislation, as well as changes in modern society, have affected the labor-management relationship.
In a 5-page paper, complete the following:

Evaluate how changes in legal protections for public sector unions have altered the working conditions labor faces.

Provide specific examples into how and why some may believe unions have become too powerful.

Evaluate how changes in societal perspectives of the labor-management relations have altered the working conditions labor faces.

Provide specific examples as to how and why this may have minimized the perceived need for unions in many public sector settings.

In 1000 -1500 words, write a research paper on  Police  Use of Force .In so doing, you must include at least three to five in-paper citations (APA style). Additionally, the reference page must be attached with no less than three references from outside sources. It is essential to follow the guidelines stated below in how to write a research paper: Introduction ( one paragraph), Body (three to four sections), and conclusion ( one paragraph).  

    This paper should relate to how the criminal justice system failed this individual.  I want you to base your argument on the Discrimination-Disparity Continuum. Do you believe this individual was convicted based on systematic discrimination or was in contextual in nature? You need to argue your case and try to explain what went wrong. 

     In arguing your case, you need to explain the details of the person you chose- you may want to look at where in the CJ system failed the individual (ex: bad police practice, bias, jury selection, eye witness ID, etc.)

    Explain if you feel the failure in the CJ system is systematic, institutionalized, contextual, an individual act of discrimination or that there was no racial or ethic discrimination, also known as pure justice. 

    Some of the questions you may want to ask yourself are: Have reforms been enacted as a result of this injustice?  How has this injustice impacted the CJ system? What could have been done to better ensure that an innocent person would not be wrongfully accused:

– How much time in jail or awaiting trail
– Age at time of conviction
– Race of defendant, race of victim
– How long spent in prison
– Were they serving on death row
– What was the crime they were convicted for
– How many times were they denied parole
– How were they convicted? ex: eyewitness ID, etc
– What was the race of the victim and do you believe it played a role
– Were there witnesses to the crime
– Was forensic science used
– Was there a confession, admission or a guilty plea
– Is there any type of disability/ mental illness involved
– Was the defendant indigent- was their lawyer private or public
– Was there a use of informants
– After release- was there some type of compensatory award?
– Did the accused receive a monetary award and was it appropriate for time spent in prison
– Was the true perpetrator of the crime ever identified

   The paper should be a minimum of 5-10 pages in length (10 pages maximum) , typewritten, doubled spaced 1 margins, 12 pt. Times New Roman Font.  In addition to the Innocence Project website, I urge you to use sources other than the Innocence Project website, to expand on the individual’s information. It is with this added information that you may find information on race of victim/offender, use of public defenders, etc. If you do use any other sources,  please give proper credit by using the APA manual style for citations. Your paper must include a reference page. 

You are required to provide a thread in response to the provided topic. Thread is to be a minimum of 250 words, cite at least 2 academic sources, and demonstrate course-related knowledge. Acceptable sources include the textbook, peer-reviewed journal articles, government sources/websites, and professional association websites. Which basic legal concepts are important for a patrol officer to keep in mind when stopping a vehicle for a traffic offense? How might these change depending on the circumstances?
