Botanical garden

This is a response to the video. “Fairchild Botanic Garden Tour Plant One On Me Ep. 094”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et4Kok5MYTQ

I want you to write what you learnt from the video and any question you have about the video in a couple paragraphs so not citation needed.

Climate Change

Climate change is not going to kill us all, but it will effect the world as we know it, since these are not the conditions to which our society adapted.

We can fix it though, and there are plenty of ways to do so. A lot of them were addressed in Chapter 15.

So, your paper. I want you to write a 2000 word (4 pages) paper on Climate Change Mitigation. How do we halt climate change, and how can we potentially reverse it. You can look at the Stabilization Wedges on slide 57 in Chapter 15 as a starting point. It doesn’t need to be a nuts and bolts kind of paper, just enough that I know you understand it in broad strokes.  You need to have at least four (4) sources. You cannot use Wikipedia as the source, but you can start your research there.  If you are going for the extra credit, you need another source per 1000 words, so that’s a minimum of 6 sources if you are going for the whole enchilada.
You need to do citations in this format:

Pneumococcus (PCV13) Vaccine

Case Study and research the disease Pneumonococcus (PCV13) Vaccine and its associated immunization, detailing how immunization works in our immune defense mechanism.
The Case Study Report – Immunization must include the following components:
both broad and general description of the disease/organism
Discuss if the disease/organism(s) is a virus or bacterium
Explain basic signs and symptoms the disease/condition causes in human infections
Explain any complications the disease/condition may lead to in human infections
Discuss how the disease/organism is transmitted
Immunization Purpose: List and give basic description of what type of immunity the vaccination offers; Discuss if the vaccine provides passive or active immunity; explain the difference between passive and active immunity and how each defends the body in protection.
Immunization Schedule: Refer to reliable/credible sources and list the immunization schedule that is required for an individual (i.e. CDC, Department of Health).
List the immunization schedule for the age(s) an individual should be vaccinated
List if any booster immunizations are required and explain why
Discuss the consequences if the vaccination schedule is not followed and/or if any booster immunization doses are not administered.

Combatting Environmental Crime: Enforcement and Prosecution

1.What roles do the two primary federal agencies who deal with environmental crimes (the EPA and the DOJ) play in the enforcement and prosecution of environmental crimes? Explain the roles and relationships between agencies and why these matter. Who deals with environmental crime at the state and local level (name them), and what are the responsibilities of the different state and local officials (explain)? What is the difference between federal enforcement and prosecution vs. state and local enforcement and prosecution? What are the roles of persecutors and judges in the prosecution and sentencing of environmental offenders? Why does this matter? How does all of this help to explain the current state of environmental crime enforcement and prosecution in the United States? Make sure to fully flesh out and explain your points.

2.Most of the punishments applied to environmental offenders are monetary, and most offenses are punished organizationally (meaning the organization as a whole is fined rather than individuals). However, we know that monetary fines are not very consequential for environmental offenders and that most organizations who consistently pollute or violate environmental crimes factor in the cost of fines as part of doing business (i.e., the fines dont matter, because it is cheaper to pay the fines than to not violate the law). Considering all of this, how do you think environmental offenders should be punished? Should individuals who work for an organization be held criminally liable? Should offenders serve jail time (i.e., corporate officials)? Should companies be given the death penalty? Develop an argument for how these sorts of crimes should be punished and explain your points.

Critique/Summary Paper “The Martian.” by Andy Weir or directed by Ridley Scott.

Critique/Summary Paper
Instructions for Critique/Summary Paper

Instructions for Summary Paper:
1. Cover page
2. Content page
3. Bibliography
You will be writing a paper critique of a story/book/movie.

The body of the paper needs to be 2 complete pages and no more than 3 pages (minimum 600 words) double-spaced typing; in lieu of direct quotes use in-text citations at the end of every paragraph revering to the information you pulled from the book/movie; must include a reference and title page in APA style (no abstract is needed, though), running head, header, and page numbers.

NO direct quotes; This is your Critique, not someone else.  This is not what was said and done in the story but a critique of what you think was accomplished.  You must write in your own words!  Do Not re-write a book or dialog in your own words.  Write about what the author accomplished not the character, you may make a point by summarizing what they said or did that was interesting or added to our knowledge and reference (cite) that paragraph with eg… “(John Doe, 2018)” at the end of the paragraph like this. (John Doe, 2018)

NOTE: It is critical for you to understand this is NOT a paper on how well you can copy and paste. You will fail this paper if you directly copy and paste sentences (and paragraphs) from a book critique or article. This is cheating and stealing other’s ideas, which will not be tolerated for this paper assignment. You must write in your own words (summarize) what you are reading, seeing or thinking. Please note it is not enough to change-out two or three words and call it your own sentence. Also, do NOT use any direct quotes.  And finally, this is a critique of someone else’s work and should not include your political or social beliefs you are however giving your opinion about the “Authors” work.

things to consider in your critique, not necessarily in this order:

1. Does the book or film accurately portray scientific exploration?  You should be able to say “yes… but…” or “Not exactly because…”
2. What is the main ecological points(s) the author and filmmakers are trying to make? Point 1, point 2 etc.
3. What would you do if you were in the position of the main character?  (His broad situation)
4. In what way is extinction involved in this story?
5. Conclusions.  Taking into account what you already know, and what you have read and learned from the course text, did the author and filmmakers make their scientific point(s) clear?

Any topic (writer’s choice)

Using your chosen country from last week’s Discussion Board, do an internet search to identify at least 2-3 popular science or news article from reputable sources that identifies and discusses a water quality or quantity issue. You are welcome (and encouraged!) to expand on your research through exploring journal articles or other forms of reputable information. From this search, please provide responses to each of the following prompts (limit 1 paragraph for each response:

1. What are the major reservoirs and fluxes from the water cycle that are influential for the communities that reside in your assigned country?

2. Have there been historical or current human impacts on the reservoirs and fluxes? What are they?

3. Who are the actors involved in affecting these reservoir or flux changes? How is the water being used?

4. How have changes in reservoirs or fluxes impacted populations in this country?
