Statement of purpose for graduate school

I am applying for graduate school at Umass Lowell; masters degree in business administration.

Personal goal is that I would like to become an account executive in the fashion business.

In a separate document, submit a brief statement indicating your immediate and long-range goals, relevant work history, academic honors/awards received, any teaching experience and/or research conducted/published that may be pertinent to your graduate program. Two page recommended maximum.

Just to add to the story I was already back in school for a second accelerated bachelors degree in nursing but it was not a good fit for me. I am now trying to acquire my passions.

Reflect: Please take some time to reflect on how the concept of global citizenship has shaped your identity and think about how being a global citizen has made you a better person in your community.
Write: Use the Week 1 Example Assignment Guide when addressing the following prompts:
    Describe and explain a clear distinction between globalism and globalization after viewing the video and reading the article.
    Describe how being a global citizen in the world of advanced technology can be beneficial to your success in meeting your personal, academic, and professional goals.
    Explain why there has been disagreement between theorists about the definition of global citizenship and develop your own definition of global citizenship after reading the article by Reysen and Katzarska-Miller.
    Choose two of the six outcomes of global citizenship from the article (i.e., intergroup empathy, valuing diversity, social justice, environmental sustainability, intergroup helping, and the level of responsibility to act for the betterment of this world).
o    Explain why those two outcomes are the most important in becoming a global citizen compared to the others.

The Importance of Becoming a Global Citizen

Project 7 Public Health Alzheimer’s Disease or Antibiotic- Resistant Bacteria

Scenario

You are the Health Promotion Educator at the local health department. One of your responsibilities involves training staff on public health initiatives. Your objective is to create training material for the health department staff to help them inform the community about specific public health initiatives.

Instructions

Prepare training material for your staff on one of the following public health initiative topics: child and adolescent water safety, Alzheimers disease, or antibiotic-resistant bacteria education. Your training material should guide your staff to educate the community on the specific public health issue and initiative.

You may use PowerPoint, Prezi, or a similar presentation application of your choice.
Create at least two slides per bullet point below:
Create the dialog that would occur between yourself and a patient explaining to them the public health initiative you chose.
Present the treatment options or plan of action for the public health initiative and how you would verbally and visually explain it to your patient. Be sure to include other medical or community individuals that the patient may need contact. Images and videos are encouraged.

Construct an FAQ on your chosen public health initiative that you would provide to your patient to assist them with the best care and treatment options/plan available.

Research and provide information on five populations that are prone to your chosen public health initiative and discuss. Images and videos are encouraged.
Provide 2-3 community resources that you would be able to provide to patients to assist them with your chosen public health initiative. Provide contact information and background on each resource.

Project 6 Public Health Meningococcal disease college outbreak and Salmonella Foodborne illness

Competency
Present a public health initiative using a variety of communication methods.

Scenario

As the Clinical Office Manager at the health department’s clinic, you have decided to begin to utilize TV screen media in the clinic waiting room to help communicate public health information and updates to the patients. Your objective is to gather information regarding current health issues or concerns in your community and develop a video using a series of slides to be displayed on the TV screencast.

Instructions
Research both of the following two health issues:

Meningococcal disease college outbreak
Salmonella foodborne illness

Develop a series of slides and record a short (3-5 minute) video about the health issues that will be displayed as a TV screencast in the patient waiting room. Ensure that you include the following:

Definition of each health issue
The geographical location of each health issue
The medical services that can be offered to patients for each health issue
Provide two resources to assist the patient with more information regarding each health issue (community resource, credible website, medical providers website, etc.)
Narration on each of the slides (you will be the narrator)

To create the slides, you may use PowerPoint, Prezi, or a similar presentation application of your choice. The slides should include text and images.

Health Propsal Asthma

Competency
Design a public health initiative implementation and evaluation plan.

Scenario
You are a member of your community’s Public Health Policy Board which reviews public health issues in the area. Your objective is to gather community public health data regarding asthma and create a proposal for a health initiative implementation and evaluation plan to be reviewed by the board.

Instructions
Research the public health issue asthma in your community (city, county, state, or region) and formulate a written plan to submit to the Public Health Committee Board to be reviewed. Be sure to include the following:
A detailed description of the illness
The impact of the illness on the community
Who is affected by the illness
A detailed plan for implementation of the new initiative
A detailed plan for evaluation of the new initiative

Project 4 Health Substance Abuse Program

Competency
Evaluate evidence-based advocacy practices that promote wellness and manage disease among diverse populations.

Scenario
As the Substance Abuse Program Manager at the local health department, your responsibilities include educating the staff on the promotion of wellness and disease management among diverse populations. Your objective is to create a short presentation on elements of addiction disease for the health department staff members.

Instructions
Research a vulnerable population globally affected by addiction and create a health education presentation to present to your staff.

Be sure to include the following:

Detailed information about your chosen vulnerable population, including geographic location and background.
Detailed information about the type of addiction.
At least two evidence-based advocacy practices for the type of addiction, with examples.
Answer the question: How will the evidence-based advocacy practices promote wellness and manage disease in the vulnerable population?

Project 3 Health Education Hypertension FAQ

You are a medical professional at a local health department which provides a clinic as an option for community members for medical visits such as annual physical exams, vaccinations, and non-urgent medical matters. The community health center is also connected to the health department and is used to educate patients on their medical condition further after they are treated by a medical provider.

The health department clinic has seen an increase in patients with hypertension (high blood pressure). The clinic and community health center are in need of health education materials to further educate patients on this cardiovascular disease.

Instructions
Create an FAQ (frequently asked questions) sheet to be displayed in the community health center to educate individuals on high blood pressure.
Include these points:
What is hypertension?
What causes hypertension?
Are there any other health problems that associated with hypertension?
Is hypertension preventable?
What are the treatment options?
When should I seek medical attention for hypertension?

Your FAQ should contain a title and a list of questions and answers. They do not need to be numbered, but you should apply formatting to make the questions stand apart.

Slope in the Real World

Image of a house.  The slope of the roof is emphasized. Slope is not just a topic relevant to the graphs of linear functions. Slopes are in fact all around us in the real world, from roofs of houses to the incline of ramps and roads, to name just a few examples. So, the concept of slope is important in all areas of construction, design, and engineering, as well as the analysis of data from many areas of study.

In this discussion activity, you will investigate the concept of slope and highlight examples of slope in the real world, as well as gain some practice in calculating slope in such situations.

There are many different ways to define slope, and there are examples all around us. In your initial post:
Please start with an explanation of how you conceptualize/understand the term “slope” that you think would be helpful to someone who has never heard of slope before.

Finally, create a real-life problem involving slope for a classmate to solve.

Hello again could you do a transformative piece on Wilson Owens Poem Mental case. I’ll include a previous one you did for me which was great. The idea is the same and you’re just turning the poem into a story

Project 2 Public Health Social Media post

Defend a communitys need for a particular public health initiative.

Scenario
You are one of the medical providers at a clinic associated with the local health department. It has been noticed that more patients in the clinic waiting room have been reading medical news on their smartphones. Many of the patients have conversed with staff regarding various medical issues and public health initiatives that they have read about on social media. Since public health initiatives can be communicated quickly through social media, you have been tasked with creating several posts on the health department’s social media sites to help community members understand the importance of the initiative.

Instructions
Research one public health initiative in your community and create a series of social media posts to present the need for the initiative in your surrounding community. Include text and images that will clearly and effectively communicate the need for the public health initiative. The details of the actual announcement are yours to decide. These posts will not be live posts and should be created in a document form of your choice for submission (word, PowerPoint, PDF, etc.).
