SECURITY AND DOMESTIC ANTI-TERRORISM S

Cops on the Front Lines; The First Defense Against a Strike, Foreign or Homegrown

Police have been told a group of terrorists has just launched a series of coordinated attacks targeting the L.A. subway system. We know that there are hostages, and there are reports of injuries, but most alarmingly, they have detected the presence of a device which appears to have dispersed some sort of chemical agent.

Watch the terrorism response simulation: Intense Counter-terrorism Training With L.A. County Sheriff’s Department – Crime Watch Daily and answer the following questions:

How many life-threatening situations are represented here?
Besides the Elite Counterterrorism Unit, what other teams/ agencies, more than likely, would be involved in this scenario? Explain.
Does your town/city have a terrorism response component? If so, how is it structured?

Weather and Climate

Using data from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology website, find the current monthly values for the following: The Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) and Nio 3.4 index. What phases do these values indicate the El Nio-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is in? La Nia or El Nio or neutral conditions? All required information for this exercise is found at http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/enso/. Present your findings as a brief 200-250 word brief essay describing the relationship between SOI, Nio 3.4 and ENSO. Brief essays should have an introductory and concluding statement. Best tool to measure KPIs

Research the best KPIs to measure an online event focused for a FUNDING startup (funding box). The event is to raise AWARENESS of the brand, so the kpis should be based on that.
After selecting the kpis (6-8) and explaining  why to use them, choose a TOOL or PLATFORM that best fits this purpose. Should be friendly and updated and useful for the type of business.

Elaborate the analysis as bullet points, not paragraphs.

Article Analysis

Of major concern to educators and psychologists alike is the relationship of childhood poverty and deprivation on suppressed cognitive development, executive functioning, and attention. Further, recent research suggests that childhood poverty also can play an important role in negative health outcomes and attitudes towards aging that extend into adulthood.
*Discuss the research of this topic and suggest effective interventions for using childhood as a springboard for promoting healthy aging.

The embedded articleis also found in the SUO library reference:

Secure and Efficient Data-Sharing

What are some strategies for assuring that EHRs promote secure and efficient patient data-sharing among personal health records (PHRs) and health information exchanges (HIEs)?

Your initial post must use at least one scholarly or health care industry-recognized resource, and include an in-text citation and its related reference, following current APA format guidelines.

Introduction to Privacy and Security

Daisha Estrada is in the clinic today. While you are escorting your patient, an 85-year-old woman, out to the waiting room you and the patient overhear the lab tech and another nurse talking about Daishas lab results. They are discussing her vaginal smear coming back positive for gonorrhea. As you are escorting the elderly woman out to the waiting room she asks if gonorrhea is contagious. Those two ladies in the hall were talking about having to report that womans lab result to the CDC. Wouldnt you only be contacting the CDC if it was seriouscan I get it from being here today?

1.    Go to the following website, www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001929.htm

and read about the purpose of reporting certain diseases and illness to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Explain how the Privacy Rule applies to reporting to the CDC?

2.    Describe what the healthcare workers did wrong in the short scenario provided.

3.    Describe what the healthcare workers should have done differently. What would be the most appropriate action to take when wanting to discuss a patients health status in a place such as the clinic?

Imagine you are working at a hospital. You find out that one of your friends was admitted to the hospital last night and has had surgery. Although you are not assigned to take care of your friend, she is in the unit that you work, therefore you have access to her medical record. You are in the EHR documenting on your assigned patients and decide to take a quick look at your friends chart to find out why she had surgery and how she is doing. A little later you call a family member to tell them about your friends surgery.

5.    Discuss what was done wrong in this scenario and the possible implications and consequences. Be thorough in writing your answer.

6.    One of the largest problems with healthcare information security has been, and still is, inappropriate access by authorized users. How will the current regulations help reduce or eliminate this particular problem? Provide at least one example in your answer.

EHR Standards

For this assignment, choose a case study that allows you to focus on standards for EHR data and technology, as well as the organizations that set the standards. Be sure to complete all assigned EHR course activities before you complete this assignment, so that you can add perspective from your growing EHR knowledge and skills to your analysis.

Instructions
Choose a case study from one of the links provided; provide the citation in current APA style and format; and give an overview of the case study you chose. Based on your reading of the case study, your experience in using the EHR in the course, and further research in industry or scholarly resources, write your case study analysis to meet the following criteria:

Identify standards that govern EHR systems and the organizations that set them.
Select one vocabulary standard and one classification standard and explain how the case study implemented that standard.
Distinguish types of data, data formats, and data reporting requirements.
Describe the purpose of data modeling and data dictionaries.
Explain how the case study addressed the following components: data architecture, databases, data warehouses, data modeling, data dictionary, and metadata.
Explain the importance of data usability and quality.
Explain the importance of consistency and design.
Determine standards for integration among applications.
Using your experiences with the assigned EHR course activities, identify documentation strategies that have been used. Explain how these strategies have assisted in the integration of data across applications.
