Complexity of Integration

Data integration appears simple in theory but in fact it can be a very complex process, particularly in organizations where sensitive or personal information is used, such as health care. Based on this information, why is data integration important in a data management process? How critical is it to have a comprehensive integration plan, particularly in todays world of health care? Provide examples to support your thoughts.

Project Costs and Project Budget

Part 1 (1/2 page)
The project budget is created to bring these two parts together.
How would you explain the difference between a project cost plan and a project budget to a business sponsor? Remember that the sponsor is not familiar with the project management process or its terminology.

Part 2 (1/2 page)
You are a consultant project manager hired to implement a major ERP application and your company will receive 10 million dollars at the end of the project. The CFO determines it will cost 7 million dollars in total and take one year to finish the project. The consulting company will profit 3 million dollars for completing this project.
However, in the 10th month of operation, the project team runs into problems with the data integration functionality of the ERP system. The organization already spent 5.25 million dollars on this project, and the CFO must decide whether to continue with the project or cancel it. She estimates that this major setback will cost an extra 1 million dollars. However, the company can still profit 2 million dollars from the project (Nickolas, 2015).
Do research on project sunk costs and provide the following information:
Should the CFO approve the continuation of the project?
What would be the basis of the decision to move forward?
Should sunk costs be included in the decision to move forward?

Part 3
Overview ( 3 page)
Estimating project budgets is far from an exact science. Many of us have heard of projects running over budget. Why is this? Why do we consistently forecast low? There are many reasons for this inconsistency, including everything from improper funding at the beginning of the project to taking shortcuts that should never have been taken. Whatever the reason, there is a need for project managers and their teams to become better at forecasting technology costs.
For this assignment, you will complete the Cost Budget Template (See attached), update your project schedule in Microsoft Project, and update the Cost Estimate / Schedule Update section of the Project Management Plan Template.
Instructions
Using the information from the Unit 5 assignment and your WBS, provide a complete budget for the project using the Cost Budget Template provided.
For this assignment:
Identify the costs of each task.
Identify the time frames within which the costs will be incurred.
Prepare a cost estimate for the project using the Cost Budget Template.
Prepare a preliminary budget for the project using the cost estimate.
Enter your budget into Microsoft Project.
Use the Microsoft Project function to establish a baseline budget.

Peer Review

Within Module Case 4 you will conduct a peer-review of a fellow classmates DSP prospectus (Chapters 1-3). The Peer Review Process is an essential activity within the academic community. The process assists in the quality assurance and a formal/critical review of scholarly writing and research. The peer-review process also allows for additional viewpoints and critiques of ones academic work to aid and assist within the editing and content continuous improvement of ones scholarly writing.
Case Assignment

It is very important that you provide the author with constructive criticism and structure on improving the DSP prospectus. In your review it is essential to know what specific changes you would like to see based on the peer-review template that is provided. It is not enough to just point out potential problems with the proposed study. Highlight the problematic areas that you feel are critical and must be addressed. Where possible, provide suggestions or references on how to overcome these obstacles.

Provide review feedback of your assigned peer-DSP prospectus based on the following areas:

Organizational Behavior :: Questions for Review

Write a two-page paper in APA format (not including title page and reference page) addressing the questions for review on page 36 of the textbook. Do not write the questions, but use them as writing prompts to create a paper with an introduction, seven paragraphs, and a conclusion. Draw upon outside sources to support your answers, finding at least one article from a peer-reviewed journal or reputable business magazine. Be sure to include key learnings from your readings, which requires citation and references.

Data Integration

Data integration depends on architecture and data standards. Integration, sometimes referred to as interoperability, is also the ability for databases to interchange or combine information. A seamless integration process is a direct result of design, architecture, and high data quality.

Instructions

Include at least three data quality issues you discovered, the processes or activities that may affect those issues, and recommendations to resolve each issue. Your strategy map should meet the following criteria:

Create a strategy map to demonstrate an data integration strategy including data quality, best practices, policies, and procedures.

To accompany your strategy map, write a summary that meets the following criteria:

Explain the use of a master patient index (MPI) in patient information integration.
Explain how the existing differences in data formatting will impact the ability to easily integrate data with the information systems.
Assess data quality and data integration issues that influence the foundation for Independence Medical Centers database design and architecture.
Recommend an integration strategy for Independence Medical Center.
Describe methods, best practices, policies and procedures for data integration in general.
Submission Requirements
Length: Twothree pages plus strategy map.

Plagiarism

In a word document, write a 300 word essay about ethics in plagiarism in relation to business? Provide at least one example of an organization that was affected unethical behavior in the form of plagiarism.  Remember to cite your resources.

Below are some APA hints

If you use a quote from an author, you must provide a page number (or in the case of an electronic reference, a section or paragraph number [ or ]). Conversely, if you don’t use a quote, don’t give a page number. Use these symbols in your citations: [ or ].

Use the same font and font size throughout your paper.

Double-space throughout (including between sections and your references).

Use page breaks instead of hitting the “Enter” key 20 times to get to the next page.

Do not use “too many” quotes and do not use any long quotes. I would rather have you paraphrase the authors. Besides, quotes do not count toward your page total (and I know you can do a better job paraphrasing)!

ETHICAL DECISION MAKING IN DIFFICULT SITUATIONS

After reading Chapter 2 of the text, please write a 4-5 page essay that addresses the following:

Lockheed has an interesting history that seemed innocent enough up until around the 1950s. You’ll note on p. 56 of Terris book that the company began to engage in some questionable sales strategies with other nations in an effort sell the F-104 Starfighter so as to recoup costs when their US sales strategy failed.

Describe some of the unorthodox strategies covered by Terris during this era that made Lockheed become “a byword for the shady practices of American multi-national corporations, and a major impetus for new legislation…”.
On the issue of overseas bribes, Terris asks the questions, “Who was hurt by the [overseas bribes to secure sales of aircraft]? The competitors, of course, but what was unethical about beating out the competition that was playing by the same rules? (p.59). What do you think about a situation where underhanded and back door deals are the way the game is played if everybody is on the same playing field? That is to say, if everybody is playing by the same shady rules, is it unethical to compete?

In your reading you will note that defense contractors continued to find themselves in hot water well into the 1970s as a result of overpricing and additional charges of bribery. In the late 70s Lockheed established its first code of ethics and later the major defense contractors came to the table to level the playing field with the Defense Industry Initiative (DII), by agreeing on a set of ethical principles. This was an important turning point as was bringing Norman Augustine on board.
Why was the DII so important to the eventual success of Lockheed Martins ethics program?
Discuss Norman Augustine’s and Dilbert’s contribution in helping Lockheed Martin turn the corner with its ethics program.

our paper should be 4 to 5 pages, should be double-spaced and in 12-point type size.

Your paper should have a separate cover page and a separate reference page. Make sure you cite your sources.

Use APA style, and proofread your paper.
