Any topic (writer’s choice)

This week, reflect on the unit study guide and address the following questions.

If you were a marketing researcher, how would you define a marketing research problem, and why do you think it would be important to define that problem correctly? How could the internet aid you in defining the problem and developing an approach? How important would marketing research be to your organization?

Your journal entry must be at least 200 words. No references or citations are necessary.

Current Event

In this assignment, you will compare news accounts of a current event of your choice using summary and analysis skills. Your assignment should be two to three pages in length and formatted according to APA guidelines.

STEP 1: SELECT A CURRENT EVENT TOPIC.
Consider contemporary debatable news topics. Some ideas for exploration include tariffs, border politics, Brexit, role of the UN, digital hacking, populist politics, emergent technologies, and labor practices.

STEP 2: RESEARCH AND SELECT TWO REPRESENTATIONS OF THE CURRENT EVENT IN THE NEWS MEDIA.
One representation should be from a credible source. The second should be from a source that may include potential biases (think of opinion pieces).

STEP 3: SUMMARIZE YOUR SELECTED ARTICLES.
For each article, provide a three-paragraph MAXIMUM summary of the key points, main examples, and reasoning. The goal is to provide objective summaries that relay the information of the articles. Resist the urge to give into your own biases! Remember to clearly label each summary and remember to include an APA citation for each reference on the reference page at the end of your assignment document.

STEP 4: WRITE A COMPARE AND CONTRAST ANALYSIS.
Provide a two- to three- page compare and contrast analysis that evaluates the credibility, validity, timeliness, and biases of the articles. Remember to consider the tools in information literacy that you read about in the Week 2 Lesson to help shape your response. Be sure to incorporate properly formatted and cited textual evidence from the articles to demonstrate your points. Also remember to include a properly formatted APA reference page at the end of the document.

Healthy Paper

Make sure it meets the Grading Criteria:
Purpose (5 points)
o The paper should clearly identify a research topic and a thesis that provides direction for the paper that is engaging and thought provoking, The thesis clearly and concisely states the position, premise, or hypothesis and is consistently the focal point throughout the paper.
Analysis (5 points)
o The paper should demonstrate a sophisticated understanding and careful, critical analysis of the research topic and thesis (argument). It should compare/contrasts perspectives, consider counter arguments or opposing positions, and draw original and thoughtful conclusions with future implications for individuals, families, communities and/or service providers.
Evidence (5 points)
o Students should provide compelling and accurate evidence to support the topic of choice. Research sources are highly relevant, accurate, and reliable and add to the strength of the paper; and are effectively referenced and cited throughout the paper.
Organization (5 points)
o Paper needs to be effectively organized. Ideas are arranged logically, flow smoothly, with a strong progression of thought from paragraph to paragraph connecting to the central position.
Writing Quality (2.5 points)
o Paper is expected to be well-written and clear, free from grammar, punctuation, spelling, usage and formatting errors.
APA Formatting and Assignment Expectations (2.5 points)

Self Assessment paper

Keep a specific file of the results of your self-assessments just the scores, not the explanations. This document is the required appendix to your self-analysis paper.Following class, you should keep your assessments and any notes you have taken that day in a specific folder.  You will use this material to write a short (5 page maximum) paper examining what you have learned and detailing a plan to overcome weaknesses and enhance strengths.

As you do these self-assessments and in preparation for the paper you will write, try answering the following questions for each self-assessment. I suggest keeping a log of your answers and any additional thoughts and insights you have. That way you will have the information ready at hand when it is time to write the paper:
HOW DO I NEED TO IMPROVE?
1.  What element from this assessment do I need to improve the most?
2.  Why? Why do I need to improve this? How will improvement benefit me (try to be specific in your thinking)?  Whats going to be my payoff for all the work I will have to put out to improve?
3.  What obstacles stand in the way of improvement?
4.  What can I do first? Specifically!!!
5.  When will I do this?
6.  How will I measure my success?

THE PAPER ITSELF:You should plan to analyze the four self assessments from which you learned the most.  The discussion of each of these should include:
  The name of the assessment
Why it is important to you. How it will affect your future to improve on this issue.
What did you learn from it? What do you need to improve or build on?
What are the first steps you should take to improve?

Submit Paper Here by Due May 15th
Detailed Instructions:

Step 1 Select an appropriate article. If you have any doubts as to whether your selection meets these requirements, ask!

Step 2 Attach a copy of your selected article when you submit your paper.

Step 3 Write a report on the article you selected, following the format described below.

Step 4 Turn in paper and copy of the article by the due date.

CONTENT: Refer to the General Paper Guidelines. Also, provide information in the following order, but write it as a complete paper, not just answering the questions.

Summarize the BACKGROUND information that was available to the authors that prompted them to do the study state why the study was done. Reference the source of your information through in-text citations, using the name and date system of APA style.
State the HYPOTHESIS or RESEARCH QUESTION of this study. A true hypothesis makes a specific prediction, and is used in experimental research. A research question might be used instead for a descriptive study.
Describe the METHODS used. Identify the subjects, and try to identify the type of research method (case study, naturalistic or laboratory observation, correlational study, experiment?). If it is experimental research, identify the independent and dependent variables, the experimental and control groups. Explain enough about the procedures so that your instructor knows what was done. Do not include statistical methods.
What were the most important RESULTS of the study? What information did they obtain? (Do not confuse this with the conclusions of the study.)
What was the CONCLUSION of the study?  Did it support or refute the original hypothesis? What are the implications for further research?
What were your thoughts after reading the article. Did you find the information new or did it only confirm what you believed? Would you recommend suggestions for the authors to improve the article and or study?

peripheral nervous system

The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is comprised of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems generally work antagonistically because of dual innervation of many organs in effort to maintain homeostasis. Homeostasis is controlled centrally by the hypothalamus.

Answer all the following questions:

What is the role of the nervous system regarding sensation and movement?
How do upper and lower motor neurons differ?
Explain why you lose both motor and sensory function of a body part when a spinal nerve is numbed with anesthetic agents.

Address each question asked in a single essay-style document with each topic separated with APA level headings, include an introduction and conclusion paragraph. The formatting for your submission is as follows:
Submissions should be in .doc file format.

Cells and tissue

Cells make tissues, and tissues make organs, organs work within human body systems and these body systems often work together. Understanding how the various components work together is necessary knowledge.
Answer all the following questions:

1. Epithelial cells of the kidneys have pumps that drive the transcellular transport of sodium ions: a. Is this epithelium likely to be simple or stratified? -Why? b. The movement of sodium ions drives the transcellular transport of water. Why water follows sodium?
2. Why is it difficult for a mature multinucleate cell such as a skeletal muscle fiber to divide by mitosis? What is the difference between connective tissues and epithelial tissue?
3. Proteins are the building blocks of life. Every cell in the human body contains protein. Which organelles are likely to be abundant in cells such as fibroblasts that actively produce and secrete protein which fuel cells, tissues, and organs?
