MEDICATION RECONCILIATION PRESENTATION

THIS IS A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION!

COMPETENCIES
737.4.3 : Pharmaceutical TechnologyApplication of Medication Reconciliation

The graduate analyzes the medication module of an EHR.

INTRODUCTION
Proper documentation is an important issue and area of concern to the health information management (HIM) professional. Quality of care, patient safety, and regulatory compliance are major focal points for all healthcare organizations. Health information management professionals serve as subject matter experts to ensure that clinical practices meet the requirements of external regulatory agencies as well as internal stakeholders. Health information management professionals can share their expertise by collecting and analyzing financial and clinical data that relate to the pharmacy department. The goal is for health information management professionals to be familiar with how pharmaceuticals impact reimbursement and with related standards surrounding pharmacy best practices.

SCENARIO
You, as the HIM director of Felder Community Hospital, have been asked by the hospital CEO and CIO to create a presentation for a meeting with the board of directors. A new electronic health record (EHR) is being implemented in a staged manner at the hospital, and you will be explaining the advantages and disadvantages of implementing a medication reconciliation component to the EHR.

REQUIREMENTS
Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. An originality report is provided when you submit your task that can be used as a guide.

You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.

A.  Create a multimedia presentation (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote), that includes presenter notes, about the medication reconciliation application of an EHR for the board of directors. Include the following in your presentation:

1.  Explain the features of a medication reconciliation application as a selling point for the EHR.

2.  Describe how the medication reconciliation function could be used to improve healthcare delivery as a selling point for the EHR.

3.  Describe how the medication reconciliation function could improve patient safety as a selling point for the EHR.

4.  Describe how the medication reconciliation function could improve regulatory compliance as a selling point for the EHR.

5.  Explain how the medication reconciliation application could be implemented.

B.  Within the multimedia presentation, explain the ethical and legal issues for the use of medication reconciliation applications under HIPAA by doing the following:

1.  Discuss ethical and legal issues as they pertain to a medication reconciliation application.

2.  Propose two ethical guidelines for end users of the medication reconciliation application at Felder Community Hospital.

3.  Describe consequences that should be enforced at Felder Community Hospital for violating ethical or legal guidelines regarding the use of a medication reconciliation application.

C.  Acknowledge sources, using APA-formatted in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.

D.  Demonstrate professional communication in the content and presentation of your submission.

Original Question: How is synthesis different than summarizing? How does developing and employing the skill of synthesis improve the quality of the literature review? Explain.

Write a response to the following post:

Synthesis and summarizing are both strategies utilized in reading comprehension and research. They both help readers better understand what they are reading and writing. Synthesis and summarizing each have a different purpose, process, and ending result (Eaton, 2010).

Synthesis is a more advanced reading technique than summarizing. It is defined as the combination of elements which forms a whole. It pulls together information not only to emphasize important details, it also draws a conclusion. Synthesis combines and contrasts information from multiple sources (Eaton, 2010). It then turns those multiple sources into one unified subject. Synthesis is known information from the researcher and the original author, this combination creates a new writing piece and gives new insight on the matter. The skill of synthesis improves the quality of the literature review by integrating the analysis and evaluation of many research studies and literary works of authors who researched in the same area (DUrso, 2016).

Summary is a basic strategy that pulls information together to emphasize the main points. It restates the information and demonstrates what the original author wrote. The summary addresses one piece of information at a time and each source remains distinct (Eaton, 2018). It shows an understanding of the overall meaning of the piece.

Georgia O’Keeffe

Write a 3 page paper on any artist.  This is what I have so far… Georgia O’Keeffe’s art is synonymous with beautiful flowers, usually seen at any doctors office today.  Although many people thought she was celebrating the female form with enlarged flowers, she also painted New York skyscrapers and New Mexico landscapes. Georgia OKeeffe was an extremely talented artist famously known for her paintings of flowers; however, her art was more than flowers.
OKeeffe, born November 15, 1887, on a family-owned farm in Wisconsin, is where she got her enthusiasm for nature that reflected in her art throughout her life; and where her mother encouraged her to become an artist.  As a young woman she studied art in Chicago and New York

Response 2

Original question:  Some literature reviews read as “book reports” that simply provide a string of summaries of the articles reviewed. How is synthesis different than summarizing? How does developing and employing the skill of synthesis improve the quality of the literature review? Explain.

Write a response to the following post:……………

Synthesis and summarizing work jointly. A summary reviews the information and key points while a synthesis adds one more piece of combining the information and how they interact together. Synthesizing the literature is an opportunity to pull together the research with other articles of research in a way that supports or contrasts that research. Synthesizing research brings together the research employing the next level (Toong, 2019).

Developing and employing the skill of synthesis improves the quality of the literature review by combining the summaries to support or negate information (Ward & McCombs, 2017). The skill of synthesis takes practice and adds another level to the summary impacting the quality of the literature reviews. Literature reviews bring together the support for the information taking the information of articles and studies to the next level of understanding.

Criminal Procedure DB 1

Present your own opinion on the assigned topic in a 275500 word thread. Provide at least 1 “scholarly” reference and 1 Scripture in support of your thread. The scholarly references and scriptures you incorporate in your initial posts must come from outside the class . That is they can NOT come from the class, i.e. the textbook or scriptures listed in the assignments/PowerPoints. You must go out and search for them by yourself.

Review the presentations in the Reading & Study folder.

Competing perspectives in the criminal justice system are discussed, including certain Biblical Perspectives, one of which is restorative justice. Restorative justice focuses on restoring the victim by making the offender compensate the victim for the wrong and adding some punishment. Numbers 5:67 highlights this principle very well. “Say to the Israelites: When a man or woman wrongs another in any way[a]and so is unfaithful to the Lord, that person is guilty and must confess the sin he has committed. He must make full restitution for his wrong, add one fifth to it and give it all to the person he has wronged” (NIV1984). There is also a secondary emphasis of reintegrating offenders back into society.

The topic of this course is Criminal Procedure. By nature, criminal procedure is rights-based. This is because much of the law comes from the Constitution, which was drafted to enumerate the powers of government. This limits government behavior to only those listed powers, but the Constitution also clearly lays out some rights (but not all) of states and citizens, particularly certain criminal procedure rights. As such, it can be said that criminal procedure focuses on the offenders rights and government behavior.
Based on your practical and educational experience, what is the focus of the criminal justice system, restorative justice, or criminal rights? Give specific examples.
Can these seemingly competing perspectives be better harmonized? Provide at least 1 reference and 1 scripture to support your answer.

response 1

Write a response to the following post that comes after the question:

Question: Every household has a junk drawer (or some similar place) that serves as the catch all for items that have no designated place. Go to your junk drawer and randomly retrieve three items. Write a one-paragraph summary of each item separately. Then write a one-paragraph synthesis that compares and contrasts the three items. Post the three summaries and the single-paragraph synthesis of the summaries. What challenges did you experience in synthesizing the three objects? What questions do you have about synthesis techniques?

POST:

Items retrieved from junk drawer: scissors, tape, tacks

My junk drawer includes many different items, some of which I use often and some that are rarely ever used. The three items I retrieved from the junk drawer and will focus on are a pair of scissors, tape, and tacks.

The pair of scissors is used for cutting things. I use those whenever I am in need of cutting such things as; paper, ribbon, clothes, and more. The scissors remain in the junk drawer because it is easily retrievable and I always know where to find them. It is a tool that is useful and used often in my household.

The tape is the second item I retrieved from the junk drawer. It is used for putting things back together. I utilize it for sealing boxes, sealing envelopes, and putting papers back together, mostly receipts that were accidently torn.

The last item retrieved from the junk drawer are tacks, which are used to hang things on the walls. These are rarely used by me, though my youngest son seems to use them quite often. He uses them to hang posters, pictures, greeting cards, lights, and other things on his bedroom walls.

A pair of scissors, tape, and tacks are all items that are kept in the junk drawer. The scissors and tape are used often by me. The tacks, I have not used in months, but my son seems to use them often. The scissors cut things a part; the tape and tacks hold things together. All three are useful items that are essential to households, classrooms, and offices.

Challenge: It is sometimes challenging to compare and contrast diverse things.

Q: What are some strategies that make synthesizing easier?
