Strategic Management and Strategic Competitiveness Overview

Choose one public corporation in an industry with which you are familiar. Research the company on its own website, the public filings on the Securities and Exchange Commission EDGAR database, the University’s online databases, the Nexis Uni database, and any other sources you can find. The annual report will often provide insights that can help address some of these questions.

Requirements
Write a four- to six-page paper in which you do the following:

Assess how globalization and technology changes have impacted the corporation you researched.
Apply the industrial organization model and the resource-based model to determine how your corporation could earn above-average returns.
Assess how the vision statement and mission statement of the corporation influence its overall success.
Evaluate how each category of stakeholder impacts the overall success of this corporation.
Go to Basic Search: Strayer University Online Library and locate at least three quality references. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not quality as academic resources.
Use the Assignment 1 Template [DOCX] to ensure that your assignment meets the above requirements.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

This course requires use of new Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The format is different than other Strayer University courses. Please take a moment to review the SWS documentation for details.
Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow SWS or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is the following:

Determine the impact of globalization and technology changes, strategic models, vision and mission statements, and stakeholders on a corporation’s success.
Grading for this assignment will be based on answer quality, logic and organization of the paper, and language and writing skills, using the scoring rubric.

Opportunity analysis

Opportunity analyses offer a richer framework for thought than typical case studies in terms of scope, interdisciplinary complexity, and prospective (versus retrospective) viewpoint simply put, you are being asked to take what tools you have developed in this course to make decisions about dynamic business situations given limited or biased information in an uncertain context.

Any topic (writer’s choice)

This is a poster. You will do it in one slide of powerpoint. There are two documents. The first document is the topic that you will work about. The second document is the description and you will understand more what you should do. Also there is a rubric in the second document that you should follow it.

Kotters 8 Step Approach to organizational Change

Think of an organization you have worked for or one with which you are very familiar.  Diagnose the need for change and present a plan to transform the organization, utilizing Kotters 8-Step Approach. You will need to research the Kotter 8 Step Change Model extensively. You are encouraged to first review the Kotters Eight Step Leading Change Model (Links to an external site.) article. You may select any organization or department where you work or where you have previously worked; however, you are strongly encouraged to diagnose one problem area in the company. Attempting to diagnose an entire company is not feasible, and you will become bogged down.

If you choose a company similar to Walmart to analyze, select just one area that you think needs improvement. For example, Walmart is now very strong in online shopping, yet there are still glitches in the system. Delivery times are often late, the packaging method has problems, and some products come from unknown vendors that Walmart does not guarantee. We may know this from personal experience, but that is not enough. Statements, opinions, and experiences must be supported with valid sources. There are many articles online that you can review easily and quickly.

Your sources for this paper must include research for the company you choose, a valid source for the Kotter model, and your textbook. You are encouraged to read as many articles as you can find and contact the Ashford librarians for guidance. There is bias, missing or incorrect information, and contradictory material in most Internet material. The amount of material can be confusing, but wade through it and question everything.

Include the following sections headings and additional sections as needed:

Introduction
Company Overview
Diagnosis
Kotters 8-Step Approach
Conclusion
The Final Paper for the course must be submitted to the instructor by 11:59 p.m. of the time zone in which you reside on the last day of the class.

Organizational Change

Consider a real business or non-profit organization that has responded to external change well during the past five years or less.

The organization and change that you consider in this assignment must be small enough that you can do an adequate job on the assignment. Do not attempt to describe an organization that is so large that it is international in scope. Research how and why the change was made (include at least four sources, one of which must be the course text, one of which may be the organizations website, two of which must be research-oriented).

In your paper,

Contextualize the organizational change you have selected within one of the change models described in the course text. This means consider the time and place of the organization, as well as economic, technological, geopolitical, sociocultural, environmental and other macro forces influencing the change.
Explain the rationale for choosing the model you have selected over the other models in Chapters 1 and 3 or other parts of the course text (one or two sentences per model only), and
Delineate the process you are defending in your argument.
Make sure you consider the effects of the change on the companys shareholders, employees, and customers, as well as on society and the environment. Remember, do not choose an organization or company that is too large for you to examine critically in this short assignment.
The Change Model Assignment paper,

Must be four to five double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA Style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Centers APA Style (Links to an external site.) resource.

Conflicting Viewpoints Essay

When looking for information about a particular issue, how often do you try to resist biases toward your own point of view? This assignment asks you to engage in this aspect of critical thinking by playing the “Believing Game.” The Believing Game is about making the effort to “believe” – or at least consider – the reasons for an opposing view on an issue.
First read a book excerpt about critical thinking processes: “The Believing Game and How to Make Conflicting Opinions More Fruitful” at http://www.procon.org/sourcefiles/believinggame.pdf. Next, you will review the Procon.org Website in order to gather information. Then, you will engage in prewriting to examine your thoughts.

Part I – Prewriting: Follow the instructions below for this prewriting activity. Use complete sentences and adhere to standard rules of English grammar, punctuation, mechanics, and spelling.

Select one (1) of the approved topics from the www.procon.org Website and state your position on the issue.
From the Procon.org Website, identify three (3) premises (reasons) listed under either the Pro or Con section – whichever section opposes your position.
For each of the three (3) premises (reasons) that oppose your position on the issue, answer these “believing” questions suggested by Elbow:
What’s interesting or helpful about this view?
What would I notice if I believed this view?
In what sense or under what conditions might this idea be true?”

Statistical Quality Control

Statistical Quality Control
Assignment: Please read the material (Fundamentals of Quality Control and Improvement) and use the book to answers all questions as followed.
Note: Chapter  of Fundamentals of Quality Control and Improvement.

Question 1:
A local hospital estimates that the number of patients admitted daily to the emergency room has a Poisson probability distribution with a mean of 4.0. What is the probability that on a given day
a) only 3 patients will be admitted?
b) at most 8 patients will be admitted?
c) no one will be admitted?
d) For each patient admitted, the expected daily operational expenses to the hospital are $600. If the hospital wants to be 94.1% sure of meeting daily expenses, how much money should it retain for operational expenses daily?

Question 2:
The specifications for the thickness of nonferrous washers are 1.0 +/- 0.04 mm. From the process data, the distribution of the washer thickness is estimated to be normal with a mean of 0.97 mm and a standard deviation of 0.02 mm. The unit cost of rework is $0.10, and the unit cost of scrap is $0.15. For a daily production of 10,000 items:
a) What proportion of the washers is conforming? What is the total daily cost of rework and scrap?
b) In its study of constant improvement, the manufacturer changes the mean setting of the machine to 1.0 mm. If the standard deviation is the same as before, what is the total daily cost of rework and scrap?
c) The manufacturer is trying to further improve on the process and reduces its standard deviation to 0.015 mm. If
the process mean is maintained at 1.0 mm, what is the percent decrease in the total daily cost of rework and scrap compared to that of part (a)?

Question 3:
The time to repair an equipment is known to be exponentially distributed with a mean of 45min.
(a) What is the probability of the machine being repaired within half an hour?
(b) If the machine breaks down at 3P.M. and a repairman is available immediately, what is the probability of the machine being available for production by the start of the next day? Assume that the repairman is available until 5P.M.
(c) If there are two machines being repaired, what is the probability that both machines will not be available within the next 50 minutes?

Question 4 (Chapter 4, exercise 4-4):
Explain the difference between accuracy and precision of measurements. How do you control for accuracy? What can you do about precision?

Question 5 (Chapter 4, exercise 4-11):
Consider the price of homes in a large metropolitan area. What kind of distribution would you expect in terms of skewness and kurtosis? As an index, would the mean or median price be representative? What would the interquartile range indicate?

the impact of gender and physical attractiveness on employability

Double spaced, 11-point Arial font. Size 12 font.
You will need to conduct a Psychology research report focusing on the question: The impact of gender and physical attractiveness on employability.

The report must meet these guidelines greatly below to achieve a high grade. I am looking for a 2:1 grade and if this is met to a high standard I will write an outstanding view for yourself! I will be a returning customer if my coursework is written well, understandable and precise.

All cited and in APA format! THIS IS ESSENTIAL!

Report style (Communication)
Adheres to APA/BPS publication conventions for report sections. Grammatically correct prose with use of appropriate tense and active voice contributes to the report’s cohesion and clarity. Originality and scientific quality.

Word count needs to be included at the end of the essay please.

Lecturers notes: Ideally, you should also examine the assumptions behind the analysis you perform. Don’t get too bogged down with this though. Remember that the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is sensitive to minor departures from normality with larger sample sizes. In other words, it will suggest that data aren’t normal when they probably are. This is likely to reflect a Type I error rather than a genuine departure from normality. Consequently, you may also wish to look at the skew and kurtosis coefficients when deciding whether your dependent variable(s) is/are normally distributed. You may also wish to visually inspect for normality and examine whether the means, medians and modes are similar.

(JUST SO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THE REPORT IS ABOUT A LITTLE BETTER)
Print TWO COPIES of EACH questionnaire so that you have EIGHT in total. Please give EACH version of the questionnaire to ONE MALE and ONE FEMALE participant so that you collect data from EIGHT participants in total. For clarity, one male and one female participant should complete: the questionnaire featuring the more physically attractive male image; one male and one female should complete the questionnaire featuring the more physically attractive female image; one male and one female should complete the questionnaire featuring the less physically attractive male image; and one male and one female should complete the questionnaire featuring the less physically attractive female image.

* Data were collected from 2304 participants. This was reduced to 2264 after removing data from participants that had impossible values (i.e., those exceeding the actual range of scores) and those who had clearly completed more than one version of the questionnaire. They were then stratified according to condition (i.e., physical attractiveness and image gender) and a sample of 568 was taken from this.

The uploaded files should help you with understanding how it should be set out and what is needed.

Thankyou!
