Electronically Mediated Social Learning and E-learning Tools

In this assignment, you will write a paper that explores electronically mediated social learning and e-learning tools. First, present a 1 page discussion on the use of social tools for electronically mediate learning. Discuss how electronically mediated social learning follows predictable principles of learning; note any differences or new directions that learning may be taking, based on these new tools and media. Then, locate and evaluate at least 10 tools. Provide the URL (web address) for each tool, describe its function and purpose, and explain how each relates to the complex processes in learning discussed in the text, such as cooperative problem solving, community of learners, self-regulated learning, and the adoption of novel study strategies.

Length: 4-6 pages

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.

Annotated Bibliography

Create an Annotated Bibliography with at least 6 valid, accurate, and objective sources that you would like to use in your research paper (topic is attached with items for paper) . At least 1 of your sources must come from the Deets library database and catalogue.

Once you’ve determined that a source is creditable, create an annotated bibliography entry for that source in APA format that includes:
1) the full bibliographic information
2) a 1 to 2 sentence summary
3) 1 to 2 sentences about the value of the source with regard to your paper

Sources used in class was the 1619 Project https://daily.jstor.org/institutionalized-racism-a-syllabus/ and the JSTOR syllabus  https://pulitzercenter.org/sites/default/files/reading_guide_for_the_1619_project_essays.pdf

Any topic (writer’s choice)

For your initial post in this discussion, you will analyze and evaluate either Meyer, Spencer, and French’s “The Identity of a ‘College Student'” or Winter’s “Beauty and the Beholder,” both of which use argument to inquire about their research topics using the IMRAD model.

First, select one of the two articles. Then analyze and evaluate that article, responding to the following questions. As you answer these questions, remember that arguing to inquire means probing, questioning, and challenging the research, its results, and its conclusions in order to come to a more thorough understanding of the topic and to come closer to the truth. Do not simply agree with the author(s); look for points of contention or disagreement you have with the author, based on the questions below. As you answer, be sure to paraphrase (and cite) details and examples from the article to support your answer.

Summarize the research topic the author(s) inquires into. What issue or problem are they investigating? Also, identify the research question the  author(s) attempts to answer.
Summarize the results and analysis that are crucial to answering the research question. Also, summarize the answer the author(s) gives to this question based on the results and analysis.
What new ideas, information, and/or outcomes does this research appear to contribute to the understanding of this research topic? As you answer this question, consider both what the author(s) says about this and your own conclusions about what this research may add to the scholarly conversation.
What do you think of the conclusions made by the author(s)? How accurate do you think the results and/or analysis are? What information provided in the article leads you to conclude this? How thorough and accurate do you think the answer to the research questions is? Based on the results provided, can you think of other possible answers or conclusions one could make?
Examine the primary research conducted. What do you think it overlooks or fails to consider? Do you think the author(s) should have taken a different approach to conducting the primary research (such as a different primary research method, different questions, or even a different or more varied human population to study)? Why? What do you think could have been done to obtain better results from primary research with which to answer the research question?

developing a health fair tool kit.

My research question is:Will the use of a community health education toolkit help students create an effective health fair? I need research as to what needs to be in a toolkit collect information from previous health fairs conducted by students to identify gaps or areas needing development.  Intensive literature review on health fairs.  I will then design the health fair tool kit based on the literature review conducted.  Recommendations could be to see if the use of the tool kit makes a difference at future fairs.

Ethos

Your Ethos analysis can look at how the author uses appeals to authority, expert opinion, personal experiences, and anecdotes. You are to write approximately 750 words. You will need to provide a thesisis the use of Ethos in this article strong or weak? Bonus: An additional analysis of Pathos is encouraged, but it is not a requirement.

A successful analysis will:

Outline how the author makes his/her argument
Evaluate the argument in terms of Ethos (expert opinion, personal experience).
Cite specific passages and demonstrates how they function within the overall argument
Identify any significant strengths or weaknesses of the argument (or a mixture of both) and ties them back to the claims of the argument (evaluation)

Formatting

Your summary must be double-spacedwith 1 marginson all sides and in a 12 point (Times New Roman or similar) font.Use proper APA formatting (title page, reference page).

Compare Wikipedia with Library Background Sources

1) Search for an entry on Wikipedia about MULTILINGUALISM. Read the entry closely for content and form. Notice how the are related

2) Search for an entry on the same topic within a library background source database. Read the entry closely for content and form. (CHOOSE 1 OUT OF THE 3 DATABASES)
– Gale Virtual Reference
– Sage Reference Online
– CQ Researcher

4. Write 100-200 words comparing the differences between LIBRARY SOURCE DATABASE & WIKIPEDIA in content and form. How might they be useful for different purposes? How are background sources like this useful? When might you use them? How?

5. Make sure to cite the sources you reference in APA style

COVID-19 (discussion Board Response)

A discussion board reply to the post below; please see rubric attached.

Covid-19

In recent months, COVID-19 has become a widespread disease that has affected many individuals in the United States. According to Mayo Clinic (2020), some of the physiological symptoms Covid-19 patients have presented with can be attributed to the lungs, brain, and heart. While long-term effects are still unknown, due to the novelty of the disease, scientists have compared those of Covid-19 to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (Covid-19, 2020). Some of these long-term complications of ARDS are muscle weakness, fatigue, breathing problems, and depression (ARDS, 2020).

In the future, there are a vast amount of challenges the United States will face due to Covid-19. One of these problems would be a vaccine and or a drug trial. Vaccines can take up to 10-15 years to develop (Vaccine Development, 2018). While there are already Covid-19 trials going on, there is a long way to go before an official vaccine is released, along with a definitive cure. Masks are another measure the United States is taking to, protect those who are immunocompromised, along with preventing the spread of Covid-19. In the United States, certain stores, such as Wal-Mart, have required patrons to wear face masks when shopping. Last but not least, Covid-19 has placed a financial strain on many US citizens. One way the United States has helped those affected by Covid-19 is by providing a stimulus check to those individuals that qualify. While the United States still has a long way to go, there are steps heading in the right direction to slowing the spread of Covid-19.

When focusing on other countries, looking at Canada specifically, there have been many policies implemented to stop the spread of Covid-19, while helping citizens. One of the ways Canada responded to Covid-19 was to implement over 200 Million dollars of funding for PPE and mental health support for Canadians (Canada, 2020). The big topic that caught my eye was their response to mental health. While physical health is going to be a big concern with how covid-19 affects an individual, the patients mental health will suffer as well.
