Memory

This weeks reading included a chapter on memory. As any student knows, remembering all the information needed to pass an upcoming quiz can be a challenge.
For this assignment, do some research into techniques that you can employ to improve your memory. Examples of some possible techniques you could use include mnemonic devices, associations,  flashcards, etc. You may use the LIRN and your textbook to research techniques. You can also click on the link below to visit a website with more information on memory techniques.
    Memory Techniques
https://www.academictips.org/memory/index.html
Once youve reviewed several different methods for memorizing a list, write down a list of at least 20 items and memorize it. It could be the weeks groceries, American Presidents since Washington, or whatever you like.
Using one of the techniques youve found in your research, memorize your list. Once you think youve got it, take a break. Come back in an hour or so and see if you can recall the list correctly. Write it down and compare it to the original. Did you get it right? If you did, congratulations! If not, note your errors, take another break, then come back and try again. Did you do better? Keep practicing until you can reliably remember your whole list.
Once youve succeeded with your technique, please write a description of your experience. How did you choose your list? What memorization technique did you choose to help you remember it? Was the first technique you tried successful, or did you need to try another one? Could you use this technique in the future to help you remember things?
Requirements:
3-4 double-spaced pages (not including the cover or references pages), 12 point font, and APA format.

Community Child Development Center Proposal

Your community is planning to open a brand-new child development community center. Now that you are an expert in the field, you have been chosen to create a proposal for interactive, fun, and educational programming activities that will be provided for children and adolescents in this center. The chosen activities must be developmentally appropriate and based in theory. You will present your ideas to the city council with a written proposal describing the programming in detail. You have been asked to propose programming for the following five different age groups in the child development community center:

Infant (0-1 year)
Toddler (1-3 years)
Early Childhood (3-6 years)
Middle to Late Childhood (7-12 years)
Adolescence (13-18 years)
Use this Community Child Development Center Proposal TemplatePreview the document to organize your proposal. Enter the requested information on the title page where indicated. Where you find the text, In this section you will describe the activity within the proposal template, please remove that and enter your own content. The headings in bold should not be altered. The final content for each room will consist of three paragraphs that will address three distinct activities that address physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development for that age group. Table 5.1 in your textbook will be very useful in identifying the major milestones in physical development.

In your Community Child Proposal,

Describe the activity in some detail (provide more than just the name of the activity).
Identify the specific domain related theory concept that supports the use of this activity.
Identify how the activity enhances physical, cognitive, or psychosocial development.
Special Notes:

A good way to brainstorm different age appropriate activities is using Googles search tool before researching. Please review What Is CRAAP? A Guide to Evaluating Web Sources (Links to an external site.). For example, enter activities to support cognitive development in toddlers and numerous sites with suggested activities will be displayed. Remember that your activities may be simple (especially with newborns), but they must also be specific and age appropriate, and you are to connect them to developmental theory within the proposal. You must also cite the sources in your proposal.

While much of the theoretical support for your proposal will come from the textbook, you must include information somewhere in the proposal from three credible or scholarly sources. If you included a source in your Weeks 2, 3, and 4 papers, then you have already met this requirement. Just transfer the source to the final proposal. Remember to cite all your sources (including the textbook) according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

The Community Center Proposal

Must be nine to 10 double-spaced pages in length (not including the title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Centers APA Style (Links to an external site.)

Title of project
Students name
Course name and number
Instructors name

How would health care be paid for?
What innovative ideas can you envision?
Be specific and explain your responses.  Use a minimum of three scholarly references to back up you ideas. Make sure you properly cite references in APA format

Revising the DSP Research prospectus

Any topic (writer’s choice)

In Part 2 of the CCC, your goal is to take an in-depth look at the challenge you selected in Part 1E, which you will work to improve later in the course. It is not time to make any behavior changes yet.

Before you try to repair the problem identified in Part1E, you first need to understand it. Keeping a conversation log for 5-7 days of instances when the communication behavior is most apparent, and reviewing your log for patterns, will lay the foundation for identifying how you will rectify the communication behavior later in the project.

Note: Communication Change Challenge Part 2 is due this week and again next week along with Part 3. This part requires you to observe and analyze your communication patterns and observe the communication behaviors of others for Weeks 2 and 3. It is important that you get started now in order to ensure that you will have sufficient time to observe these patterns and behaviors as they occur. Record daily conversations during these two weeks. You will turn in your work for Part 2 each week. You will have 8 days this week, from Sunday to Sunday, to record your conversations.

Be sure to include specific detailed evidence from your observations that support your identification of a particular pattern for each section. Respond in narrative format for all Behavior Log Review and Evaluation sections.

2A. Behavior Log Listing
List your interpersonal communication goal from Part 1E.
Keep a dated conversation log of specific instances when you exhibited this behavior. Keep this log throughout Weeks 2 and 3.

Think about who, what, where, when, why, and how questions. Record the following:

To whom you spoke
What you talked about
Where you spoke
When you spoke the time of the day
Why you had this conversation
The circumstances
How you spoke
Think about your feelings and your nonverbal communication. Did you listen well? Were you delighted, hurried, rude, polite, angry, frustrated, and so forth? Record other important or interesting conversations as well, even if they do not relate to your goal. You need at least 5 entries this week, but you may have many more.

Be sure to include an entry each day from the time you begin monitoring your communication behavior (conversations with others) until the time you conclude 2A. If you do not face your challenge on a particular day, say so. If you face other challenges, perhaps related challenges, on any of these days, include that as well. If you cannot document a conversation about your challenge that day, record another interesting or important conversation. You should have at least one daily entry for your conversation log, and you may have multiple conversations on the same day.

2B. Behavior Log Review and Evaluation Most Effective
Review your log and document patterns of your most effective communication skills. Answer the following questions:

At what time and under what circumstances did I perform this behavior most effectively?
In what places?
With whom?
Under what conditions?
2C. Behavior Log Review and Evaluation Least Effective
Review your log and document patterns of your most effective communication skills your least effective communication skills. Answer the following questions:

At what time and under what circumstances did I perform this behavior least effectively?
In what places?
With whom?
Under what conditions?
2D. Behavior Log Review and Evaluation Recurring Communication
Review your log and document patterns of your other recurring communication behaviors. Answer the following question:

What other recurring communication behaviors did I exhibit when I did or did not perform this behavior?
2E. Behavior Log Review and Evaluation Most Pressing Behavior
Review your log and document patterns of your most pressing behavioral pattern. Answer the following questions:

Is your greatest communication problem the same one you listed in your goal for CCC Part 1 E at the top of your page?
Do you need to modify your goal for this project? If so, state your new goal by revisiting Part 1E in Week 1.
Remember, you should identify these patterns from the log you have recorded over the entire week. When you make a statement about an observed pattern, be sure to document it with specific data/examples from your log. You may find at the end of logging your communication behavior that your challenge is not what you first thought it was. As a result, it is possible that you may ultimately modify CCC Part 1E at this point in the project.
