b. Supplement your scholastic research with magazines, newspapers, websites, think tanks, etc. Again, check what these scholars cite for other possible sources.

EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT PLAN

We are trying to not only accomplish tasks with our workers, but we are also trying to develop and empower them. The purpose of your Employee Development Plan is not simply to find ways to develop employees by assigning them specific tasks. You should be able to link the accomplishment of a task to one of your core or team values.

For example, if you want a worker to write a Standard Operating Procedure, what leadership or development skills are you teaching them? Are you empowering their writing and research skills? If so, what targets and sub-targets will you create to help both you and the worker understand their progress? The SOP may need to be written, regardless. You have an opportunity through that assignment to develop the skills of your worker. This is just one example of many.
For this assignment, you may either develop a year-long plan for one of your direct reports, or you may use the attached scenario .  If you are going to use current employee development plans for people who report to you, you must break down all the components listed above.

Your plan should include:

SMART goals and the rationale for each goal
What skills are you trying to develop in this person?
What are their goals?
How can you leverage their personal drivers?
Details about your company/team core values
How each goal, project, or milestone supports those values
How the employee will be measured
Timelines, targets, and anything else you would like to include.
Determine how the goals in your plan align and support your company’s values. How could they be improved upon to more effectively challenge, empower, and educate you as a worker? (It is preferred to use something real if you can!)

Culture & Socialization

Instructions:

Go through your notes on the lecture Culture & Socialization and Chapters 3 and 5 in the textbook.
Write a 2-3 page, double-spaced response that includes the following (instructions on submitting your response follow below):
Part 1 (1-2 paragraphs): Describe an experience you or a friend/relative had where socialization occurred. Identify the agent(s) of socialization involved in the experience.
Part 2 (2-3 paragraphs): Clearly identify whether the experience was an example of primary or secondary socialization. Explain how/why it was an example of one type of socialization (primary or secondary, taking into consideration the definition of the term), as opposed to the other.
Part 3 (2-3 paragraphs): Describe clearly and specifically what you or your friend/relative learned from the experience, in relation to whether it was a form of primary or secondary socialization. You must include in your description the following:
An example of non-material culture taught/learned in the experience. Explain how/why it is an example of non-material culture.
An example of a norm taught/learned in the experience. Explain how/why it is an example of a norm.
If the experience was one of primary socialization, explain how the above examples were appropriate to society overall, as opposed to a smaller subgroup.
If the experience was one of secondary socialization, explain how the above examples were appropriate to a smaller subgroup in society, as opposed to society overall. Identify what that smaller subgroup is.
While outside sources are not necessary for this assignment, if you do use any, you must include in your response ASA formatted in-text citations. Instructions on how to do so can be found in the ASA formatting link below. In addition, at the bottom of your response, include a citation for the source using ASA format. The link below is a guide for ASA formatting.
http://www.asanet.org/sites/default/files/savvy/documents/teaching/pdfs/Quick_Tips_for_ASA_Style.pdf (Links to an external site.) (Links to an external site.)
Proofread the entire paper at least once when you are finished. Be sure to correct all spelling, grammatical, punctuation, etc. errors before submitting. Excessive grammatical and punctuation errors will result in points deducted, while any and all spelling errors will reduce your overall score (because spell check).

History Comtemp Art Final Paper

You must write a final paper, as a form of critical meditation, on one (or more) case study artworks or exhibitions covered in class.  This paper must also address, in depth, 2 -3 texts covered in class. Only one text may be from the same week as the case study. The idea is to reflect upon a combination of artworks and texts covered over the entire 10 weeks of our class. Your questions are prompts for you to return to the artworks/exhibitions/texts and dig deeper on what you initially found interesting. Please reference the Chicago Manuel of Style for footnotes etc.

Paper length: 2000- 3000 word

Case Studies You may select from either the case studies covered in required reading and/or those case studies covered in the supplemental reading. You may add other artworks to the discussion, but you must focus your primary analysis on a case study work covered in class.  These include:

Oscar Masotta, To Induce the Spirit of the Image, week two, Thinking

Mary Kelly, The Practical Past, week three, Hermeneutics

Alexandra Weltz & Andreas Pichler, Negri: The Revolt that Never Ends, week four, Empire

Marcel Duchamp, The Society of Independent Artists Exhibition, week five, Readymade

Jim Hubbard, United in Anger: A History of ACT UP, week six, AIDS demographics

Elisabeth Sussman, et. al., 1993 Whitney Biennial, week seven, Identity Politics

Yael Bartana, What if Women Ruled the World? week eight, Feminism/Resistance

Omar Mismar, Schmitt, You and Me, week nine, Friend/Enemy

Koki Tanaka, A Piano Played by Five Players at Once, week ten, Performance/Community

How is aesthetic surgery a part of Korean societal expectations? How are women represented in K- pop?

The purpose of these assignments is to use evidence to support your argument, so give a contextualized mini-thesis statement, a quote (or two) as evidence, and explain how the evidence fits your argument. Be sure to introduce your quotes (who said it), give direct (with quotation marks) or indirect (paraphrased without quotation marks) quotations with proper Chicago Manual of Style footnotes, and discuss the quotes in your own words. Be sure to be analytical in your argument and application of evidence. You can argue against an authors viewpoint or point out discrepancies across readings.

This is practice for building your paper, paragraph by paragraph. So you just need a paragraph for this.
